Product Usage
Ethylene glycol hexyl ether is primarily used as formulation solvents in cleaning fluids, paints, coatings, and inks. EGH has excellent oil solubility characteristics that make it useful in both consumer (household) and industrial cleaner applications. EGH is also used as a coalescent for water- borne latex- based coatings and plays an important role in specialty printing inks, including the silkscreening process, where its limited water solubility and slow evaporation rate prevent premature setting of the ink.
